How do I start a Community Group?

The primary purpose of Community Groups is to connect with people and provide a structure that facilitates deeper social interaction and relationship building. Groups are based around different interests, hobbies, spheres of life, ages, geographic locations and just about anything that brings people together. We currently have groups that range from social gatherings in cafe's to gym work outs to bible studies.

First step is to contact Ps. Matt Gregory for an informal chat about what you want to do. We like you to be a regular member of History Makers Church for at least 6months. You need to be a person who is good at communicating and conversing with people, friendly, approachable and well regarded by your peers. The Bible gives a great guideline in 1 Timothy ch 3 vs. 8-13 (Don't worry if you're not married!). If the group you want to run has people under the age of 18 attending you will need a "Working with Children's Check" before commencing.

Groups can be run either weekly or fortnightly. There's a quick email report to send through after you run your group. This helps us know who is receiving a basic level of pastoral care as well as providing us statistics on our community groups for future resourcing. We require you attend Sunday Church as well as our mid-week Prayer Service. Once a month on a Wednesday Night we have an "All Leaders Meeting" where we gather everyone in a position of leadership to communicate vision, mission and strategy of what is happening at hmc.

To organise an appointment with Ps. Matt please email: matt@historymakers.org.au
